How it started
A simple idea born from a common frustration
AppCarousel started with a straightforward observation: most people have at least one old Android device sitting in a drawer, still perfectly functional but with no real purpose. We saw an opportunity to repurpose that hardware as a smart display.
We built AppCarousel primarily for personal use — a smart home display, a desk companion, a digital photo frame app that actually does more. Whether it is showing the weather, rotating family photos, or keeping useful information visible throughout the day, the app is designed to be simple to set up and satisfying to use.
Beyond personal use, we can see real potential for AppCarousel as low-cost digital signage in retail, hospitality, and events — anywhere an affordable, always-on Android display could add value. We are excited to see how those use cases develop as more people discover the app.

Sustainability first
Every product decision we make is filtered through one question: does this extend the life of existing Android hardware? We do not build features that require new devices. We optimise for older hardware. We measure success partly by how much e-waste we help avoid.
Simplicity over complexity
Digital signage has a reputation for being complicated and expensive. We think that is a design failure. AppCarousel should be set up as a smart display in minutes, not days. If something takes too many steps, we redesign it.
Honest pricing
We do not believe in locking features behind enterprise tiers or charging per screen. Our pricing is straightforward — a one-off fee for a smart display app you own forever.
